Assessment Schedule

Grades 1-3

At DPS International, assessment defined by monitoring each learners learning journey through regular, informal, and continuous checks carried out throughout the year.

Teachers use the Cambridge Progression Grids as a benchmark to track and evaluate how well learners are acquiring and developing the skills appropriate to their stage and cohort level. These periodic assessments provide valuable insights into individual progress, ensuring that each learner is supported, challenged, and guided towards achieving the skill levels defined by Cambridge standards.

This ongoing process helps us:

  • Identify strengths and areas of improvement early.
  • Provide timely feedback and intervention.
  • Ensure steady growth in alignment with international learning expectations.

In this way, assessments become a tool for growth and guidance, not just measurement, enabling every learner to move confidently towards their learning goals

Grade 4

In Grade 4, students continue to be monitored through ongoing skill-based assessments carried out throughout the year. Alongside these, we also introduce formal assessments to help children gradually adapt to structured evaluation.

Students undertake:

  • 2 Formative Assessments – focusing on feedback and improvement. One cycle in each term
  • 2 Summative Assessments – reflecting overall learning and achievement. Held at the end of each term

This balanced approach ensures that learning is continuously supported while also preparing students for more formal evaluations in higher grades.

The distribution of marks will be:

Formative Assessment (1+2) = 20%

Summative Assessment I = 40%

Summative Assessment II = 40%

Final Assessment = 100%

Cambridge Primary

The Cambridge Primary starts in Grade 1 and continues till Grade 5. With a cache of 10 subjects covering English, Mathematics, Science, Art and Design, Global Perspectives, Computing, Digital Literacy, Music and Physical Education, Cambridge Primary provides a holistic education to learners. There is a Primary Checkpoint at the end of Grade 5. Cambridge Primary Checkpoint is a diagnostic test to ascertain the skills of a child and reports from Cambridge allow educators to monitor their learning group to develop particular aspects that need attention.

The Cambridge Primary will be introduced in Grades 1 to 4 at DPS International, effective April 2022. This being the first year of Cambridge Primary at DPS International, DPS International will be offering Cambridge Primary English, Cambridge Primary Mathematics, Cambridge Primary Science and Cambridge Primary Global Perspectives. Over the years, more subjects will be added on so that learners are in sync with the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme.
