DPS International, under the aegis of The DPS Society, organised “El Abanico 2026” — an Inter-School Spanish Language Festival — on 13 May 2026. The festival aimed to foster an appreciation for the Spanish language and Hispanic culture among young learners while inspiring them with the values of peace, harmony, and global unity. Reflecting this vision, the theme of the event was “United for Peace.”
The day was a vibrant celebration of ideas, creativity, and cultural expression, encouraging students to reflect upon the importance of unity and peace in today’s world. The festival featured competitions across four categories — Arts, Digital, Literary, and Cultural. Sixteen reputed schools from Delhi and NCR participated enthusiastically, with more than 200 students showcasing their talent and creativity through events such as Art, Language Mélange, Song, Poetry, Character Conversations, Photography, and Digital Presentations. The winners of the various events were awarded trophies and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The presentations celebrating Hispanic culture were a spectacular display of colour, talent, and creativity, featuring captivating dance, music, poetry, and dramatic performances by the winning teams.
The event was graced by H.E. Dr. Victor Hugo Echeverri Jaramillo, Ambassador of Colombia to India, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Elena García Torres Medina, Education Advisor, Embassy of Spain, as the Guest of Honour. The Special Guest for the occasion was Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Professor at JNU, and President of APEI. Other distinguished guests who graced the occasion were Mr. Ravi Vira Gupta, Chairman, DPS International and Vice Chairman, The DPS Society; Ms. Namita Pradhan, Vice Chairperson, DPS International; and Ms. Dolly Chanana, Director, The DPS Society. The Embassy of Colombia presented books and stationaries for the students and Embassy of Chile presented Pablo Neruda’s Masterpiece Poetry Collection.
The Chief Guest congratulated Ms. Sakshi Gautam Mishra, Principal of DPS International, and her team for their persistent efforts in providing students with a meaningful platform to experience global cultures, exchange ideas, and strengthen the spirit of international understanding.
